Kutki is a bitter, ant bilious, tonic,
antiperiodic, stomachic, astringent, antihelmintic, laxative,
antipyretic, alterative, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial
and general one of the best “anti-Pita”
herbs. It is also known as “Indan Gentian”
and “Chireta,” although it
should not be confused woth the similar herb Chairata
(Swertia Chirata). It is better than most bitters because
it has no tannins and is traditionally used to treat intermittent
fevers, acidity, vomiting, bilious dyspepsia with fever,
fistulas, malaria, syphyllis, genital herpes, leprosy, skin
problems, coughs, hiccups, chronic or acute diarrhea, spleen
trouble, acne, venereal sores, rashes, obesity, ulcers,
diabetes, gout, catarrhs, liver disorders, parasites, “Pitta
Type” Candida and Cancer. Kutki is used for
different Ayurvedic medicinal purpose. The rhizomes are
considered as digestive, cooling laxative, carminative,
stomachache, expectorant, antipyretic, anti flammatory,
antipeiodic, purgative etc. the traditional healers (Amchi)
use kutki in cold, bile problem, intestinal pain, conjunctive
, cold and caugh. Kutki is also useful for many skin diseases
for example leprosy, and others. It is one of the oldest
medicinal plants traded from the Karnali Region.
Dosage : 1 to 2 Capsules two to three times
a day before meal.
